MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Risers had a response every time Detroit Waza Flo came at them.
The Risers let one early two-goal lead slip away, but never trailed on Saturday night at Trinity Health Arena as they defeated Detroit Waza Flo, 12-8.
Muskegon has won both of its games and earned another two wins by forfeit against Indiana United FC, which were scheduled to be played on Feb. 7 and March 7.
The Risers are now 4-0 this season, good for 12 points and a first-place tie with the Cincinnati Swerve in the MASL 3 Great Lakes North Division.
Muskegon will return to action on Saturday against Kalamazoo United. Kickoff is slated for just after 6 p.m. at Trinity Health Arena.
“We get so anxious, and feel like we have to go,” said Risers coach Michael Boogaart. “In the past we went downhill during the fourth quarter and that was something I wanted to change.
“We know we are going to get to some tougher competition, so we want to keep raising our level of play.”
The Risers had three players with hat tricks, as Elmedin Zukic, Brett Timmer, and Muskegon native Miguel Flores each found the back of the net three times.
