MUSKEGON – No lead was safe in Saturday’s women’s indoor soccer matchup between Youngstown and Muskegon at Trinity Health Arena.
Despite being down by two goals halfway through the fourth quarter, the visiting Nighthawks netted a power-play goal with 4:25 to go and had several shots at the tying goal that came up empty in the final minutes as the Risers held on for 7-6 victory in a back-and-forth contest. Muskegon is 1-0-1 so far in its three-game season, with a home game against Cincinnati remaining on Feb. 14.
And it was Muskegon’s Emily Olsen that finished with two goals and an assist to lead the offense, with Natalie Johnson adding a goal and an assist. Eight different Risers each finished with a point, while goalies Bridget Garter and Hannah Landstrom combined for the win.
